McGroarty isn't being traded for a 31 YO.

I think that Winnipeg deal is great for both sides, but for the hawks it's probably contingent on the Tanev signing. I'm not sure the hawks will go that young on the blue line, but we'll see. The Jets get a 5D who can play in the top 4 if need be at a fantastic price.

I'm only following the reports. The Jets want to win now, and Connor Murphy at 2.2M does that. They also recoup an equivalent pick to the one they used on McGroarty.

Barring a team like Columbus or Anaheim overpaying, WPG risks their core aging out and McGroarty just electing free agency.

The Jets have 2 years to figure out McGroarty, so they can wait and look for a more long term fix.

It fills a present need, but I doubt the jets are looking for that old of a piece.
