My thought would be start afresh. That pick likely in the top five. And MacKinnon has not proved that successful being on a bad team. Next season, started spending a little of money wisely available on UFA (s). Maybe the following year spend some more.

Yeah I was thinking the same just temping to see him in a Canuck uniform tho but yeah fresh would be a good idea.

Jonnycanuck. I saw how pathetic it was for years with the Leafs. Trading for players who they thought would help. Signing players to bad UFA contracts just because they had the money at least temporary.
All a team needs is couple of UFA signings, and a few top draft picks being good NHLers at you right back in contention. A little slow and steady at the beginning of the rebuild might be the best way.

Well the patheticness was worth it I guess now that's you have Austin Mitch and William.
