Yes, Hughes is a better
offensive player. But that's where it ends. Eriksson-Ek scored at a .83 PPG pace this past season while carrying a 49.7% Face Off win percentage, winning just 4 short of 800 face offs. Hughes by comparison won just 118 at a 37.2 FO%. Hughes was so bad on the dot, that they literally moved him to wing.
Then there's the fact that Eriksson-Ek is a Selke caliber two-way player who plays against and shutdowns opposing teams top lines, facing stiffer competition than Hughes with less OZ starts.
Congratulations, you have a incredibly gifted and phenomenal PPG winger. But the difference between him and a near PPG Selke caliber 1C is negligible at best.
