If Vegas moves Theodore it's to save cap so I doubt they retain on theo and add a guy that's going to cost 4+ million in the same deal

a lot of bad things here : That Vegas trade isn't good for them, they got a cheap return for a top 3 D-men. Zadorov will probably get a 5-6 millions contract, and he isn't a third pair d-men. The Panarin-Trochek-Laffy line will stay like that next year, no reason to put vesey and Chytil on a second line. Finally, Jimmy Brodzinski has nothing to make in a NHL team.

I was thinking they would be looking to free up a couple million in cap and trading Theodore for a guy who doesn’t put up points but still plays top pair minutes wouldn’t be the worst thing. I was def stretching by saying they would retain. That’s a pipe dream. But I needed to make the cap work.

Niko Mikkola wanted a contract that started with a 5 last season. If a player doesn’t have a contract by July 2, they start making concessions. And in a fairly deep blue line FA class, that contract isn’t completely insane. Maybe he takes less term and try’s his luck again in 2 years rather than the 4 I originally put.

As for the Vegas trade, it’s a pipe dream, but Vegas will have to make some tough choices with their cap. Having them retain made no sense though. I was just trying to make the cap work. My point was Theodore can potentially be available.

Lastly, it’s armchair GM, not armchair HC. I’ll leave the lineup calls to Lavy. I was more focused on breaking up Zibs/Krieds
