Nothing interesting at all for Winnipeg. Ehlers won't be traded as a rental in the summer, he'll be traded somewhere he will extend.

If you want a bargain price you'll need to wait until the TDL, if he's still available.

I don’t know how Winnipeg has no interest in that. Debrusk gives you most of the production back plus 2 good prospects and a top 60 pick

It's actually very easy to understand of you think logically about it.

DeBrusk is an upcoming UFA. So worthless in a trade proposal

Ullmark is an extremely expensive backup in Winnipeg and the 2nd and prospect part is far too vague to be useful.

Merkulov is worthless. Every team has at least a half dozen similar players.

I believe the OP was going for a thinly veiled troll.

You didn’t read anything did you? Debrusk was a sign and trade. Ullmark was going to a 3rd team that would send a 2nd/ good prospect to Winnipeg. Merkulov is far from useless. He would be a middle 6 guy in a year or 2

I pointed out that stuff, except for the DeBrusk thing because it's unrealistic. DeBrusk hasn't signed yet, so if he does sign it's going to be where he wants and his contract will include trade protection, which will include a "no" for Winnipeg.

Or, you could say if DeBrusk is so excited to sign a contract that will have him playing in Winnipeg for 7 years. Why wouldn't the Jets just save the assets and sign him July 1st?

The main piece of the deal is completely unrealistic.

As I said the "2nd and a prospect" is far too vague to consider. We'd need to know what 2nd and what prospect to evaluate.

Merkulov being a long shot to be a middle six guy in a year or two has no value to a team trying to win now. Not to mention, all teams have a half dozen long shots like Merkulov that, playing the percentages, will never amount to anything in the NHL.

So that's why I'm saying if you look at the trade logically and realistically, it's nothing that Winnipeg would even look at.

Put DeBrusk on with FeFe and Vilardi and that line is tough to play against and it pushes soft Connor to the second line away from Scheif. DB brings speed and grit, a strong forecheck with a scoring touch. He is exactly what we should be targeting for our T6.

Not at the cost of Ehlers though. He'd be an okay FA add, but that won't happen. He's also fairly inconsistent and the Jets have enough of those guys. I'm not really a fan of his. He seems to get pretty overrated for what he actually provides.
