Please do not freak out in the comments. I am very aware of the fact that these deals will never happen. I'm just doing it for my own entertainment and to look at what it would potentially cost for mainly the Doughty trade. Now, Toronto would be an unbelieveble team with Doughty, but they'd have a BIG offseason in 2 years when basically the whole team needs a pay day. They have enough offensive power to lose Kadri and Marner. From LA's perspective, this deal would make them a team that doesn't NEED a Doughty on the backend because of the unreal forward group. They have 2 more solid D in Martinez and Muzzin, and I also have them signing Franson. That's 3 out of a top 4, so I traded for Barrie. Clauge is a top tier defensive prospect, and the 1st round pick will probably range in the bottom half of the first round. The 4th and Andreoff are add one for retained salary. Could be an overpayment or an underpayment depending on how you value Clauge. The bad contract swap is about even because even though Kilorn is about 500k cheaper, he has 2 years more term and plays more/better, which is why I added the 3rd.

No to the Leafs/LA deal. Leafs like Doughty but only if he's for sale but we're not giving up core pieces. I can't see a deal getting done because of this. If LA is truly going rebuild route than TOR can give up lots of picks and younger prospects

What if Kadri was switched for Bozak and 3rd?

Pretty fair trades esp the leafs trade. gotta give quality to receive quality But tampa is a cap team, so u will prob have to retain salary.

My point.


for 6 years it shouldn't be a massive issue, until Nylander and Marner are due for their 3rd contract. With saying that, it means Gardiner, Bozak and JVR are all likely gone in trades for ELCs/picks or as UFA's

The Leafs trade is not even close to fair in terms of value for what the Leafs are giving up to get Doughty.

Would you trade Connor McDavid for Drew Doughty? If your anwser is no, then why would you trade Mitch Marner for Doughty.

Do your self a favour and google the awards that Mitch Marner won during his 2015-2016 final junior year for the London Knights and get up to speed with his true upside value.

First of all, this is the NHL, not juniors. Second, how can you even compare Marner to McDavid? The Leafs are not rebuilding anymore, and should try to win a cup while they don't have to pay Matthews and Nylander anything. Giving up Marner will help. It'll be just like the Hawks where they have to trade away half their team every year because of cap hell.

i agree. plus the hawks when they built their core had a crawford/niemi in their primes, they had keith, and seabrook. leafs don't have a goalie nor defense even close to comparison. acquiring doughty will really help them. and yeah marner is no where near comparable to mcdavid.

so what if the leafs can't pay for their stars, they will just trade him. but this all these accolades for doughty is unfounded. where did the kings finish last year. do you really think he would the leafs if marner and kadri weren't on the team. no other team would offer that much for doughty

Yes, I do like the trades, they seem very fair. However, Marner and Kadri might not be enough to get Doughty. If Toronto added in say a guy like Kapanen, then the trade would be much more fair in my opinion.
