The value for Borgen is pretty even in a vacuum, but I don't envision the Kraken trading him for draft capital when they're trying to return to the playoffs this upcoming season. Borgen has become an important piece of Seattle's sneakily good defense and they don't have a ready-made replacement for him.

Agreed - I think the most plausible way to reunite with Borgen is if Jokiharju's RFA rights go back. They're comparable ages, both have seen top 4 minutes and Kraken AGM Botterill like Jokiharju enough to trade for him when he was the Buffalo GM. The question is if the Kraken would value the physicality that Borgen offers more or less than the skill in transition that Jokiharju has. Bylsma always wanted a mobile defense so his arrival may mean a change of system that Borgen isn't as good a fit for as he was under Hakstol.

I've seen that swap floated, and to me trading Borgen for Jokiharju doesn't really make a lot of sense for Seattle either. Borgen's a key contributor to the Kraken's penalty kill, and that's something Jokiharju can't really replace given his lack of contributions on either special teams unit. Bylsma has also stated that he's not going to change much tactically, so I don't see Borgen being adversely affected at all by his hiring.

I would swap Jokiharju for Borgen straight up if Kerfoot is untouchable

The Sabres fan community seems far more committed to moving on from Jokiharju than Adams does - he's still a decent (albeit not ideal) option for the top 4. He's not as defensive-minded or physically imposing as Borgen is but neither is Borgen as good in the transition game. A 1-for-1 isn't admittedly equal value for each side but with the addition of a B-level prospect added to Jokiharju's rights, I would think Seattle may consider it when the cap values are comparable and they'd get a little younger in the process.
