My guess for right now

Dostal played 44 games and posted a .902. It appears he's ready to start getting a bigger role in net. The issue is, Gibber has a tough contract to swallow + you'd be hoping he can return to the goalie he was years ago.

Gage is frankly bad. He's a real long term project, he lost his net this year to a walk on in Suchanek, and had not done well in the ECHL this year. I'd assume he just walks at years end.

Clara probably returns to Europe for another season, Buteyets probably does too, but both will get a chance to outplay someone for a spot in SD. Suchanek and Clang being the incumbents at risk of loosing their spot.

Clangs season was rather disappointing, I saw him at rookie camp and he was a world away from the other guys it seemed, he was absolutely locked into earning his AHL spot. Clara meanwhile looked outright rough, but had a real good year statistically in his league. Suchanek was an awesome find, really interesting to see what he develops into.

I remember Verbeek saying somewhere that he plans to start Buteyets for some games in San Diego next year.




This is probably my guess as well.

We ran a three goalie rotation in SD between Clang, Suchanek, and Staylock. Could see that happen again.

It's too bad Staylock was his mercurial self and had a rough season, but he was only here for insurance purposes, hopefully he can land another one way NHL contract somewhere to be a 3rd goalie or veteran AHL presence.
