Dallas does of course does have 10.9 million in cap space next season and has some other moveable contracts. So both teams would be able to do this. But yes this specific trade is unlikely

If they made this trade they'd have 5.9 million in cap space to sign 10 players, the league minimum is 775, so even if they signed 10 players at 775k they'd be 1.85 million over the cap and be terrible

Like I said they have a bunch of short term moveable contracts. Marchment/Faksa/Dadonov combined 10M. Plus Benns 9.5 off the books at the end of next season. Some Toronto retention might have to happen for this specific trade. But Dallas is rumoured to be in on Marner for a reason, it’s very possible

Rumored where? They have built a team that needs these elcs until Seguin and Benn are done. This trade makes no sense

Dallas isn't going to gut their (potential) Stanley Cup forward group so they can fit an $11M forward, who is about to ask for $13M+ on his next contract, they don't need into their lineup.
