The only issue I see with the VGK trade is the cap hit on their end. But, you know ... VGK... They'll put Stone on the LITR at the start of the season just so he isn't on it at the end of the season and play the cap again but in reverse order..so who knows.. Could be one of the only teams Marner waives the NMC to move out.

Tavares would be nowhere near opting out of his no trade as he signed to TO and he wants to win a cup in TO. He's not going to move unless they are out of the playoffs, and that would be very unlikely. He's the one guy that won't waive it. I would even think Matthews and Nylander would move theirs before he does, both would be bad moves unless something huge came back Toronto's way, but seems very unlikely that Treliving would even consider moving them, so I figure Toronto will need to keep Tavares.

I would see Stamkos as a potential signing if they can make room for him. He's a Toronto native, they have the power to go in the series, so why not. I'd give him 6.5M$ X 2 years personally, but 6M$ X 3 is reasonable considering who he is and how he's still producing.

Roy, Domi, and maybe Bertuzzi are underpaid there

What does that have to do with endorsements offsetting the taxes? I agree not everyone can play in places like Montreal, Toronto etc but that has nothing to do with the above conversation

All i'm saying is the endorsements mean absolutely nothing, Toronto offered Stamkos the moon in endorsements and he turned it down to stay in cheaper Tampa, Plus he didn't have to put up with the media circus that is Toronto.

They mean as much as the tax rates does If a player Is considering signing in Toronto they know that although they will pay about 14% more in taxes they will make that up and more with local endorsements including role players. The top players like Marner and Matthews will make even more

IF a player does not want to deal with the fans/Media of TO then taxes are irrelevant.
