Description
My thoughts on the offseason:

Hronek:
Trading Hronek, especially for a winger like Necas doesn't seem like a good idea. Moving him while signing a replacement isn't guaranteed is pretty risky, especially how good we've seen him and Hughes work together. It also leaves a glaring hole at RD for the future, Willander isn't ready yet, and any UFA we sign won't be a long term solution. Here I've extended Hronek to a bridge deal through his prime years. I think there's potential to be better especially after the second half of the season and the playoffs, hopefully we see a bounce back from him next season.

Top 6 Solution:
The leaks of management being interested in Guentzel vs Necas is interesting. I think Guentzel would be their preferred option, and his hockey IQ combined with his skill is perfect for Pettersson. In this scenario I have Guentzel-Pettersson-Garland, which gives everything: forechecking, high-danger passing, scoring, defence. From what I've read and seen, Necas certainly has the skill, but doesn't have the highest hockey IQ to compliment it. Also signing Guentzel for free (albeit at a higher price) may be smarter than trading assets (either Hronek or picks+prospects) for Necas who would cost $2-3M less. However if management fails to sign Guentzel, I do think then they'd go after Necas.

Major UFAs:
- I'm not convinced signing Lindholm to a hefty contract ($7m+?) throughout his 30s to play 3C for us is a good idea.
- Although Joshua has been good for us, from Allvin's comments, I sadly think he won't be staying.
- Zadorov is also a toss-up. He's been amazing for us since we acquired him but at the end of the day, he's still a 4/5 defenceman. Signing him to a $5M long-term contract wouldn't be the best idea. $4M is the max I would go. If not, there's a lot of options in free agency for cheaper: Dillon ($3M?) and Kulikov ($1M?).

Next Season:
Certainly more high-end talent than depth. But there's a lot of 25/26/27 picks to address the third line at the deadline.

I’d sign Joshua over Arvidsson, dude has some serious injury issues and Joshua is a great fit for this team.

That's fair, but Arvidsson has been good when healthy, and has been pretty decent in the playoffs. When Dak is on, you notice him, but most of the playoffs, he wasn't.

Hronek already turned down 8 x $6,500,000 he's not taking less in Vancouver.

Jake Guentzel isn't leaving Carolina for a higher taxes Vancouver.

And if Vancouver doesn't re-sign Dakota Joshua, I could see him possibly coming home to Detroit as our 4th liner.

Firstly I don't think Hronek takes anything under 7.25, so in my opinion he isn't worth that. This is classic asset management. You were saying there is risk In trading Hronek, well there is risk In any move you make. It's about evaluating the risk and seeing what makes sense as an organization going forward. In my opinion Necas is a top player in the league, he had a down year statistically, but the upside of him and Petey together long term is salivating. I think he would add such a dynamic element to our forward group.

Hronek isn’t worth more other & RHD are hard to get. Good as top 4 but top pairing is a bit too much to ask especially come the playoffs.

Guentzel won’t prioritize the Canes he will go where he fits best & for the money.

Not a hope the Wings will sign him at 4th line winger price & play him there. Detroit isn’t nearly that good to offer up that.
