Description
Would that be enough for Ekblad? If not what would it take, I know Florida probably don't want to trade him.

It is far far far from being enough. Marner or Nylander

Why would you make a trade and then have a roster 20 and only a million in cap room? And any one that saw Ekblad last year would think he worthy of 7.5m contract. Injuries and concussions really diminished his play. So trading for a guy who had a great first two years, and then now hoping he is going regain his form, seem to me foolhardy. Currently he hardly worth of being paid the 8th highest Dman in the league. And not only do you give all those assets in a trade, in two years you won't have cap to sign for example Marner. Still a good deal?

Why is it that so many of these trades....there are comments that Leafs would have to trade Marner, Nylander or more. I would just once, just once see some trades for these high priced players being traded to another team besides the Leafs. See if the other teams would want to give up their young stars for either short term rentals like Doughty.

Would Edmonton trade Draisaitl for Ekblad?

The proposed deal would not be enough for Ekblad who is a young, elite dman and Florida would need an young, elite player in return.

Not sure if Leafs really willing to give up one of their young, elite players for him but would have to offer up Nylander and first round pick. Marner and Matthews would be off the table in any discussions.

Did you see him last year? There are serious questions if he is elite now or will be again.

I did not follow Ekblad closely last year and do not see many Panther games on TV. However, i think the entire team was screwed up last year by the incompetent management team. i would not write Ekblad off for one poor year and regardless Babcock would know how to regain his confidence.

What confidence? So injuries and concussions have nothing to do with it? Spending 10% of the cap on one player might be bad enough, but someone who may have peaked. Wow. Absolutely insane to spend that much in a cap world and hoping a guy plays better. At worse, can't the Leafs wait and maybe wait to spend that silly money next year or so on a guy they know is healthy?

Wolf: You offer a very soid package package of prospects and picks. I do think that Florida is going in to a must win season though and as such need players that can assuredly play now! Far too many critical reviews as above start off with it must include Marner and/or Nylander (Usually by the same posters, and usually NOT Leaf fans), but in this case, that might be the hammer! Pal wouldn't have to worry about the cap scenario as Ekblad's $ would be offset by those earmarked for Marner or Nylander! Would represent a balancing of core players! I don't think the Leafs bite!

Doug. I"m more worried about his play. (health) than the actual asset to acquire him.
