NJD would rather just buy Ullmark ourselves. Chychrun isn't a fit and 2 rentals should not be the goal.

If Boston would accept value like this I would rather do a 3 way with Washington for example

Washington gets: 10th, 2nd, Bahl
Washington gives: Fehevary, 17th

Boston gets: 17th
Boston gives: Ullmark

NJD gets: Ullmark, Fehevary
NJD gives: 10th, Bahl, 2nd

17th vs 25th+39th are virtually identical value per Puckpedia

If you wanted to trade down from 17 you could very likely obtain a package such as 25th+39th

values are nearly identical could just trade down because NJ isn't doing 2 rentals for 10th

It's based on historical trade values. So a great indicator of what you could get in a trade down, and of value.

NHL GMs in fact negotiate using historical trades as a baseline constantly.

You specifically in this case would rather have 2 five dollar bills instead of a 10.

Picks are incredibly liquid and easy to trade, especially into other picks.

but we're not talking about $5 bills. we're talking about hockey players. if there's a player a GM likes, that pick all of a sudden has more value. there's are intangibles. today picks are relatively liquid - incredibly is a gross exaggeration. around the draft, there is a lot more subjectivity.

We’re talking about draft picks. Not players.

Except we are talking about draft picks.

How does one manage to be biased about draft picks.

A 3 team trade? Before the draft.

Far too complicated to make happen on draft night.

Sure. In that case we would have no real idea who would be available at 17, 25, or 39. So at which point we look to the values. Of which they are identical

They have a range. But again, no real idea. If the guys Boston likes are gone they can simply trade down.

And again, do you have any evidence that Boston doesn’t like the guys in the 15-20 range, and really likes the guys in the 23-27 range and 37-43 range?
