reports Carolina won’t bring back Necas, now presumably they’d qualify him as an RFA and trade, but they won’t have any leverage whatsoever, so could probably get him for cheap

You shouldn't throw out silliness based on emotion because you like the guy. He doesn't score enough to be a 3rd liner. He's a dime a dozen plug at this point. Easily found, extremely replaceable, basically no value.

So Adam Lowry (31 years old, 35 points this year on a far better team surrounded by far better players, 36 points career best) is a dime a dozen plug at this point...easily found, extremely replaceable, basically no value?

You can't just look at point production to tell if a guy is good or not...there are many other factors LOL

Sure, there are other factors. Like Lowry is a proven defensive shutdown center on the best defensive team in the league., while Protas isn't proven at anything.

As I said you can like him, but he's nothing special and he doesn't start a conversation as the main piece for a top 6 forward.

Ha - got em...only 35 points? He doesn't produce enough to be a 3rd liner...so by your argument, Lowry is nothing special and has basically no value.

Based on his first full NHL season, at 23 years old, Protas is a solid two-way forward and he proved that this year, especially with his defensive ability. And I never said anything about him being "special" or "starts a conversation as the main piece for a top 6 forward". All I said is that he is definitely not a 13th/14th forward lol

You should get your facts straight about other team's players before giving an opinion. To say he has no value is just wrong.

Bad assumption on Necas. Yes, reports are he wants out and team is open to trading him. He’s an RFA tho with limited leverage. Canes can just bring him back for another couple years versus getting a bunch of nothing.

reports are the Canes don’t want him back. they’re focusing on Jarvis and Necas, reports were Pesce and Necas won’t be back because CAROLINA doesn’t want them

Yeah that’s not accurate on the reports even (and those are speculative in the first place). Reports say that CAR has given Pesce some offers they’re comfortable with and hasn’t worked out. Similarly Necas wants a bigger contract than what CAR is willing to do right now. Doesn’t mean they don’t want the player.

Pesce has the ability to test the market and likely will. He had a down year in a contract year so that original offer might not be bad compared to what he can get - wouldn’t be surprising to see him circle back at some point.

Necas has little leverage. He’s going to get qualified and if he doesn’t like that offer he can elect arb and then canes can choose to keep him for 1-2 years.
