Why not? Fills both of their needs with two players that won’t cost much and fit their timeline.

Neither of them would have obvious spots on the team to allow them to thrive. Robertson’s injury history makes him unreliable and the Sens need bonafide 200-foot middle 6ers, rather than question marks. and Liljegren is just right-handed Branny, who already plays the right side anyways. he wouldn’t fill that true 2RD role that they need, and probably isn’t what they’re looking for in 3RD either. Maybe the Sens would give a couple of their 4ths to take the chance on Robertson but at that point it’s far more worth it for the Leafs to just keep him and take a 2nd for Liljegren from somebody else

Because Liljegren is a top 4 D and Robertson is only 22 years old and scored at a 20 goal pace in his first full season in the NHL.

As far as I’m concerned, your team is borderline ass and just about any player that can make an immediate impact would be more helpful than a late first round pick that was born in 2006 almost a decade into your rebuild.
