My thinking is that Tavares can mentor Bedard for a while, then be dealt at the deadline for picks/prospects, with the Hawks eating half the salary. He only has the one year left. Liljegren gets more of a chance o prove himself here, with less pressure. Abruzzese is a fringe prospect who could work, but might not.

Toronto gets a solid top 4 dman, a middle six speedy winger, and two guys in Donato and Raddysh who could be solid depth. And their own pick back. And a bit of cap relief.

This all assumes JT approves the trade. Honestly, he has a better chance to win this way, because he can be dealt to a real contender at the deadline.
