There is not a single piece in that trade that would make the sabres interested in trading 11oa

Scott Laughton alone is worth a high second-late first. To add a fourth it requires Ollie Lyksell, Garnet Hathaway, a second, and a fifth? Flyers decline this.

You have over valued the Philly players; Sabre's say no thank you. Maybe if you add Bonk and keep Ollie

If Buff is moving 2024 first... it's gotta be for a top 6 forward/top 4 defenseman at least. Laughton is a third liner and the rest of this is just adding change to try to "even things up", which isn't how "hockey trades" work. A team is never forced to "sell" a draft pick, so this deal isn't going to fly.

I don’t disagree that Laughton is overvalued for everything he “does/provides” outside of actual play but Philly has “allegedly” turned down multiple late first offers for Laughton alone and Buffalo has been linked to him multiple times.

The additional pieces although not “how hockey trades work” help to bridge the gap from potential late first value to early-mid first round. Also provides Buffalo veteran leadership / grit / depth and properly slots the majority of their bottom 6.

While some Flyers fans may think this isn’t enough for Laughton because of his “intangibles” everyone else in the league will think this is a bit of an overpay by BUF - however imo the exact type of overpay that a team trying to end a 13 year playoff drought might attempt

I respectfully disagree, I think Danny B would take this without a 4th, despite Torts losing his mind. If they’re actually committed to rebuilding you sell 29 yo Laughton while people are still willing to overpay for him. The additional pieces are needed as 11 is not a late first and honestly probably wouldn’t even be enough.

Additionally Philly will currently be over the cap next year and will need to shed salary - likely a Atkinson buyout - however if you can free up $3-5mil and get great value back for the rebuild, open up slots for developing players and not have to buyout Atkinson it’d be a huge win imo

We actually won’t be over the cap hit. Ryan Ellis is a leach similar to Carey Price who is on LTIR and instead of retiring continues to remain on the team. I understand what you are saying though. I just don’t know if Danny Briere would give up these batch of player for anything less than a first with a higher draft pick or prospect attached.
