Verbeek has stated that he's looking for scoring winger and RHD. I imagine he's looking for more leadership qualities in both of those players. RHD might be expensive on the open market, curious if they can weaponize their cap space and draft capital to get something done here. So maybe explore potential trades with teams with cap issues, as they may come cheaper, but i really didn't see anything out there that would benefit either side.
For Stamkos, I think we've seen Verbeek's tendency to tack on an extra year to attract FAs (Gudas, Killorn, Strome, Vatrano). Maybe not in Vatrano's case but i definitely feel that the other 3 likely got 1 more year than what was out there for them. I think the right term for Stammer is 2 years, but i suspect it wil take 3-4 years to get it done. In my scenario, I like offering more short term cash, as going too long could complicate their ability to sign all these guys coming off ELCs in a couple years. Stamkos would be a massive add in terms of helping this team transition towards trying to become winners and gives them a bonafide leader in the room to help groom the next captain. I think it's worth the mega overpay it would take to attract him and as long as the term isn't crazy, it'll be well worth it.
Some of these RFA guys, i'm not sure about. Could qualify Jones, Vaak, Lundestrom, Leason, Lacombe or could just trade their rights somewhere. Who knows. Verbeek says he's looking for more out of the Bottom 6. So returning with basically the same bottom six doesn't seem like that'd be the answer unless he feels they've shown growth.
Rather than having the traditional top 6, a checking line and a 4th energy line, This team could just have a "top 9" and a 4th line as far as minutes are distributed. I'm higher on Zegras than I think most are and i think he deserves to play with guys who can finish his passes.
I think there will only be one significant RHD, so it's not adding a Hakanpaa AND Tanev, but just one. I'm looking at more veteran D men that I don't think will require long term commitments to attract but rather overpaying short term, so I think they're out on younger guys like sean walker, Demelo, Carrier, Pesce, etc. or more specifically guys that will require a lot of term to attract. I'd love to acquire John Manson somehow, but now with Nichushkin's situation, I think CO doesn't really need to trade him anymore as I'm imagining a scenario where CO can terminate his contract in 6 months time. That's 7 mil off their books.
True cap space is after Stammer and an RHD @ 5 mil is around 8 mil. So there's room to take on a contract and move things around if they see fit.
Christ above, that's way too much money for Stamkos.
Make it 9 and it might be reasonable. Second someone on the roster goes over 10 and everyone will want north of 10
lol, i'm just thinking that someone else could come in nd pay him 3x9... but hoping to attract him with the bigger figure and the right term for this team, which i believe to be 2 years. I guess if they offered him 3x9, that wouldn't be awful

I dunno man, I've been watching him recently, he's definitely lost a step. As a trigger man he's still fine but it's kind of like Ovi, you need to let him set up at the dot for the one timer and everything else is becoming more and more useless. I'm worried we're going to start relying on the kids up front too much to cover for the fact that we'd have too many old pylons on the roster.

$9,500,000 is my absolute max on a 2 year deal
Like you said, we can make prices sky high because we have so many mouths to feed the next 2 years — we need to hope all the youngsters love Anaheim & eachother and all want to take on the old Boston everyone takes a small pay cut to keep the squad together
