But with Rielly still on team that would not work , you need to add Rielly into a trade and get a right hand defense to play with Theodore!

Theodore plays strictly RD already. You would just not pair Rielly and Theodore together. The only RHD that would be a good partner for Reilly in the league is Weegar as he plays on the left side mostly

Ya but makes no sense to keep both for me Rielly is on the decline and needs to go.
We have no defensive left hand to play with Thodore but I would rather have Theodore over Rielly!
TML could try trade Rielly for a defensive 1st pair then.

Toronto's issue is lack of ability to move the puck up ice effectively whenever Rielly isn't on the ice. Having Theodore would solve that problem. proceeding to trade Rielly (which isn't remotely realistic) would then recreate that exact problem.

McCabe is a defensive LD that can play with Theodore

There is no defense in the NHL capable of making Rielly playable in his own end!

Tanev made Hughes look like a defensive star so that is just completely untrue
