San Jose is more likely than not to be one of the worst teams in the NHL again next season, I highly doubt they want to trade their 2025 1st round pick, along with the 14th overall in this draft, an early 2nd this year and a few good players/prospects to acquire a $10.9m softie who will expect a raise after next season, an average, injury prone defenceman and a 3rd round pick 3 drafts from now.

And for the love of god, enough with putting UFAs in these off-season deals, why the hell would Samsonov matter to the Sharks in this trade when he will only cost money, not assets, on the open market???

This is absolutely delusional. Nobody on earth is paying two 1st, a high 2nd, a young top 4 D, a young middle six F and a middle six prospect for one year of a cry baby and a bad goalie

Hypothetically if this trade went thru it would be with Marner guaranteed to sign a long term deal then I would like to believe the Sharks would no longer be the worst team in the league. Honestly I'm just a big Marner fan and i truly believe he would be able to be a huge part in turning a franchise around quickly especially playing with Eklund, Smith, Celebrini and i believe thats so valueable I understand the hate but I don't fall for it. I honestly think Timmons could be such an improvement from Ferraro too he just needs to stay healthy. Although If you think the Sharks will still be terrible then maybe switch next years Sharks first pick with Vega's first pick because they have that too should be much lower. As for pick 14 this year we have so many prospects and young guys already including the first pick this year i thought we could maybe spare that pick and it would be something Toronto would be extremely interested in. Samsonov is just a place holder to make the trade go thru, a dead assest maybe with the small possibility of signing a small 1 year deal as well you never know he has shown flashes of brilliance before he could go on a crazy run. He had a down year so he shouldnt be wanting too much.

the idea would be he signs a long term deal. in that case were paying that for a guy whos scored 639 in 576...someone who the sharks would kill to draft in with any of those picks...someone young and skilled enough to save the franchise.

He’s immature and know for not showing up when it counts. He’s also 27 so yes young but why would they just have kept Timo Meier who’s the same age? This is just bad asset management giving up all that for 1 guy who doesn’t fit the ideals of the GM
