I don't think Calgary has room for that much cap. All forwards are signed through next year. Plus, they have to sign Kylington or sign a top LHD(or trade for one).

McCabe is not a top pairing defense. Good for 2nd pairing though.

We have the cap space($20M), but that would leave an even more bare D core. Moreover I don't see Marner signing here, or CGY needing Marner's production until he's in his 30s. Not to mention TOR dumping a bunch of guys that won't help this team win.

The Flames are just not a very good trade partner in a Marner trade. And this trade isn't worth it if we'd flip Marner this year.

We're likely trading players for picks and prospects, not big game hunting. Teams that are on the cusp like OTT, NYI, PHI, NSH, or DET might have the appetite for a Marner.

I am saying Calgary can't do it. They are moving out 9mill with the suggested trade but taking on 16mil. Then they need to sign a top LHD, which doesn't leave much for other needs (aka Wolf needs a contract). It won't take much to spend that 20mil.
