I can't see Calgary accepting that trade. Veleno is what he is, a good bottom 6 guy, husso is a cap dump and Maatta is a 3rd pair guy. You'd need to change that 2nd to a first and add an A level prospect at least to get that trade done.

That's absurd, especially coming from Detroit.

Goalies are mostly products of the team in front of them. You don't need a $6M+ goalie to win a cup.

Are you saying the value is absurd? Cuz I think the value is correct. Maatta holds the value of a 4th round pick, Husso holds basically no trade value, he's almost a negative asset in this trade, Veleno probably holds the trade value of a third. So what's being proposed is basically a 4th, a 3rd, a 2nd and a negative asset. That doesn't get you a guy like Markstrom. Adding a 1st wouldn't either.

Not once did I say I would do that trade by the way, I'm a wings fan and I don't think trading for Markstrom is a good move for what we'd have to give up. I'm just saying that the value is off.

Idk, I was just talking out of my ass. There are points when he’s underrated though. Plus, if goaltending is a product of the team in front of them, then LA should have great goaltending, and NJD would’ve made the playoffs. Goaltending dictates how your season goes and how well your team does. Markys a good example of that. We shouldn’t have even been close to a wildcard spot at the deadline, but because of Marky we were. Average goaltending doesn’t win cups.

That's not how logic works...

I don't actually think he's worth that, but I think there are teams desperate enough to pay that (New Jersey like you said). Calgary doesn't really have a reason to ship him off right now and I think until Dustin Wolff is fully ready, they'll just keep Markstrom unless an offer like what I mentioned comes along.
