The Leafs get the best player in the trade. Heiskanen is a Top defender in the league who's still pretty young. It would be worth the high asking price in my opinion

The Leafs 2026 1st Round Pick is Top 10 Protected

The Leafs send many good pieces to the Dallas Stars. This would help the Stars become better in both the short & long term in the quantity of good solid pieces they'd be receiving back, despite not receiving any 1 Player who would be as good as Heiskanen. Although getting the Leafs top defender prospect in Niemela will help in that blow

Plus Heiskanen has not done that well so far in these Playoffs. With 2 Assists in the 2 games as well as a -4 in those 2 games

The Leafs receive a Starting Goalie who came 2nd in the Vezina Race back in 2022. A good veteran Goalie like this could help mentor Joseph Woll into the role over the years while also being the Starter in the mean time until sharing the net in a Tandem situation

The Flames get a former 1st Round prospect the Leafs drafted last year as well as a 3rd & 4th round picks. This is a little more than teams typically give for a similiar package due to Former 1st Round Prospects not having as much value as 1st Rounders do... But the Leafs are out of those until 2027 now
