Please no. While I like O'Reilly, he's not a massive enough upgrade over Zibanejad to justify his contract. Remember, we just moved Stepan who's only a year older and had a cheaper and shorter contract. I also don't want Evander Kane on this team. Dude is overrated and a pending UFA, and Nash is better and worth the difference in salary.

O'Reilly has had 5 50+ point seasons to Zib's 1 and yes he is better and with Shat would get 80 points I think and Kane is on an upward goal scoring trajectory where Nash is on a downward one at this point in his career, also if Kane has a good season we can resign him but Nash is gone. this would be a win for my Rangers.

O'Reilly is probably going to be named our Captain
And even if he's not...
we aren't trading him for Zibanejad

And you'd have to sweeten the pot to get us to take Nash off your hands

And your reasoning for us to do this deal is so that we can get Tavares...
Tavares might not even make it to UFA
And if he does, we have no clue he'd sign here

So we aren't giving up O'Reilly for a HUGE "what if"

I can't see Buffalo taking this either. Everything is leaning in the Rangers favor on this one.

The argument can easily be made that O'Reilly is better than Zibanijad based on stats. I would point to him being younger, but until he has a breakout year, that is all i can point to.

Kane, while I personally don't like him and the drama, is also easy to make an argument for. I could try to argue that Kane can't stay healthy and yes, is overated. I would also say Nash is a much better all around player, and just way easier to root for, but lets be real... he is much older, didn't have as good an offensive year as Kane and also makes a whole 1.8m more than Kane.

Nick Holden doesn't change the stuff stated above.
