I don't think there's a world where the wings add on defenseman besides rookies. Ghost will cost too much. Yzerman in his presser today seemed pretty satisfied with the defense group at the moment and put a lot of praise towards Edvinsson and Albert Johannson

I can see it, they love him on the pp and why start playing defense now. If it's more than two years though it's a mistake.

Don't mind any of the actual ufas but perron isn't going to play for free. Old and slow but he's a 3 million dollar guy atleast.

If perron doesn't wanna sign for that which I'd understand then just replace him with Bergerren. I love DP's leadership but you can tell time is starting to catch up unfortunately

I'd give Ghost 3 x $5.5m play him on the 2nd pairing RHD with Edvinsson. He'd still be cheaper than adding any one of Pesce, Montour or Roy.

Hes cheaper than those guys for a reason, he can't play at 5 on 5 and see real minutes though he's awful in his own zone. Pp and sheltered 3rd pair and I'd go 4.25 for two seasons at most.

They don't like Bergy it's pretty obvious. I'd be shocked if he's here to start the season.

So you'd only give him a $100,000 raise for 2 years for a 56 point seaso?. I understand he's not good 5v5 and sucks defensively but he won't sign that cheaply.

He had a good season but he is what he is, if I wanted to spend more he wouldn't be the guy I'd sign.

I think Yzerman wants to keep Gost, but at the right price. What he would get on the open market and what he is worth to the team are likely two different things. I think with Edvinsson and Johansson coming that Gost will have to come cheap. I hope we spend that cap elsewhere to be honest.

Yeah I'd much rather put that money towards the forward group. I really like our defenseman prospects and would rather add another player that can carry the team if Larkin is ever injured again for a few games so we don't spiral again. Raymond is taking a large step so he will contribute a lot but we need another top end guy similar to Cat/Raymond (I went with Stamkos in this example)

Maybe not a common option but I kind of like the idea of adding Karlsson from Vegas. He's a better centre than Compher, JT could bump out to the wing. He is sound defensively and has more offense than Compher. He obviously would need to be traded for but Vegas has no loyalties to any of their players and might view him and his cap hit expendable. All depends how they want to shape the team though.

I wouldn't mind Wild Billy.

But I don't see Vegas trading him.

But they have proven to dump any player if it suits them.

I'm just curious after trading for Hertl what his future is. Hertl's trade protection says he doesn't go anywhere. They could easily let Marchy walk but if they could retain him and gain assets for Karlsson then maybe.

The cap situation with Detroit would be really tough to navigate.
