I am a Leaf fan but i fail to see how these trades are adding any defenceman the help the team

Can someone enlighten me on who K. Burrows is and how he might help the Leafs??????

I would much rather just let Rosen/Dermott/Marincin battle it out for the last spot than sign Franson.

Also don't think VandeVelde is a good signing. We have LOADS of forward depth. Absolutely no reason to sign more. Rychel, Leivo, and Kapanen would get a spot before him.

I agree with you about not picking up Franson.

I still think they will move out some forwards to obtain another 3-4 Dman to add insurance on the back-end in case of an injury. However, this trade may come later in the season or alternatively they pick up another Dman rental pick-up at the trade deadline.

I think they have identified their target Dman alternatives which is probably off the radar of what is being reported in the media and they are just waiting for the right time and price.

By signing Marleau (in my opinion overpriced and unneeded) the Leafs are going the route of almost going with their current men.
There is nothing wrong with their current top five. Reilly, Gardiner, Hainsey, Zaitsev, Carrick, so with the Leafs cap issues there isn't really an upgrade possible for a 3 or 4 Dmen unless Bozak or JVR are traded.
Marincin and Marchenko, might have to live with those guys this season. To me the only guy who might be NHL ready maybe October or maybe later is Dermott.

I understand the cap dumping of Fehr, but right now he is needed as the 5th centre...there is no one with the Marlies, and he is an upgrade over Ben Smith.
