Ottawa didn't underpay for him, that was the rate that the market bared, and the reason the market rate was that was because he had a fair amount of time left on his sweetheart deal, now he doesn't. He's also got a major history of injuries and outside of one awesome season, is just a regular top 4 D production wise.

Have to agree with you here. Fans in general tend to overvalue their players, I've done it many times. Chych is an elite LD, but he only has 1 year left, isn't physical, doesn't really have playoff experience, and is a defensive liability. The couples positives are he's been healthy all year for the first time, and has scored a bunch of goals with Ottawa.

What I think a lot of Sens fans are forgetting is the Flyers wanted multiple firsts for Laughton pretty recently. Have to think he's worth at least a first today and is exactly what the Sens need.
