The decision to resign with the Islanders is in the hands of John Taveres and not Garth Snow.

i really just think they have to do whatever they can to keep Tavares. Even if he wants 12M. I mean, if he doesn't re-sign they could be one of the worst teams in the league. As much as they shouldn't want to give him 12M, they might have to.

you have to do whats best for the team. 12,000,000 committed to one player thats not coming off an ELC is too much

i know, it seems like a horrible trade idea until you hear the reason. The Islanders were so close to the playoffs this year, but they didn't quite make it ... if they still had that 4th line they could have made the playoffs. That was a great 4th line, but now Martin's gone. Sure, nobody else in the league would give up Toews, Wotherspoon, and a 2nd for Matt Martin, but the Islanders likely would.
