Description
Brad needs to let his players get chemistry together and keep them together for next year, I think this team can go on a deep run in the playoffs without even aqquiring anything at the deadline.

This has 3 foward lines that can score and can play in the defensive zone with a fourth line that could also be a third line that is defencevly sound and can shut down other teams top guys with holmberg being able to fit in that role aswell as having reaves for a tougher game. Third line will need to work on defencive side of the puck but all can create offence and can check well.

All 3 D pairs can play at any times and provide physicality and toughness which they have been lacking in the past year and it has shown in the back half of the season it is a lot better having tough physical guys on the back end who can protect the front of the net.

Sammy and Woll are both above average goaltenders who can split the games and fight for who plays in playoffs.

Can call up Minten and Cowan if forward gets injured and Niemla or Rifai if a Defence is hurt

Time will tell and you raise some good points, but zero chance imo that Tre doesn’t sign (or at least genuinely pursue) one or two RHD FAs. Means - the way I see things - one or both of Domi & Bert aren’t coming back which sucks but such is life under Mr Bettman’s stupid cap.

You say stupid cap. All I can say is that all the teams play in the same system. I’d be more upset at Dubas if I were you.

Cap is stupid, hard to argue that. Other leagues are growing revenue way faster than the nhl 🤷🏻. Blame Dubas for what? Ensuring we’re a top 10 team every year.

32 teams in the league bud, only 4 teams won the cup during Dubas’ tenure. Obviously we all would have loved to have won - maybe this year 🤞- but I don’t ‘blame’ him. Just a lazy narrative to spout that, but heh - free country(s).

I guess we can agree to disagree. I just think paying what we did for the big four was ludicrous. Dubas knew we were in a cap era.

Revisionist history; all of the big 4 contracts were signed just prior to Covid breaking the cap. You can still argue he overpaid - especially Marner, but covid played a huge role in aggravating Leaf cap issues. Other teams too but not every team inked their stars to massive extensions 6-12 months prior to Covid

Very grateful there is a cap, I don't give two cents about league revenue, I care about the product on the ice and the competitiveness of teams.

I'm glad there are no super teams like the Dodgers in the NHL.

To each his own, but I disagree whole heartedly. No one cares (outside of a few dozen thousand) if Carolina, Columbus or Ottawa (to include both countries) are competitive. Other leagues know you need to ride big teams and big stars to grow popularity. MLB, EPL, NBA all understand it - that’s why they are blowing up but NHL will die on the parity over popularity hill 🤷🏻.
I get that all teams should have a chance to be competitive but league has gone too far ensuring parity; need a better system that promotes growth (via the most popular teams and stars) while still ensuring some level of parity.
