Intriguing offer, Konecny is definitely something we could use. Sucks he's only signed for 1 more year, Sabres wouldn't pay Mitts and Konecny is gonna get paid. Sabres probably need a 3C more than a W know cause even with all those high picks we still don't know if any can play C in the NHL. I would do it, I don't think the Sabres would.

I agree, it's close though. Konecny would hopefully bring in that grit and skill thing that we are missing. The flip side- he's only got a year left, he's gonna get paid big, and even though I appreciate his game, it's a fair question about whether he will age well, at his size and style of play. And he's a winger, which I don't love investing heavily in- usually the center is the straw that stirs the drink.

If it looked like he could be the missing piece. I pull the trigger all day. But looks like the Sabres definitely need more than 1 piece.

Konecny is a guy most fans would like to have
But in real life, i don’t think we add a guy who’s gonna get a big Cap Hit like that

I would be happy if adams would at least decide to target players like this in the draft. I'm not even sure you can say that's the case.

That often backfires though
Remember when we drafted Zach Kassian?
Or even Girgensons?

The bust factor just increases when u draft like that
It’s already a crapshoot to begin with

I'm hoping Cayden lindstrom is on the board when we pick. I agree with you to a point, if you don't ever spend prime assets on grit with skill, AND you don't hit on picks after round 2, you end up with a team like we have now. Is there a better chance they bust or take too long to develop, sure, but the law of diminishing returns is gonna be in play for smaller skilled players.

I hear ya
But Andrew Peters was a 2nd round pick for example
Drafting “grit” early just doesn’t work out all that much
