I get why the Blues would do it but I doesn't really make much sense for the flames.

Dropping back in the draft (almost ten spots) and giving up a solid young line forward for a few extra picks and one B+ and B- prospects doesn't seem like something Calgary should do.

We need quality prospects over quantity prospects at the moment.

The flames are still getting a high quality prospect at pick #13-16. They still will likely be able to draft iginla, MBN, Connelly, yakemchuk, greentree, or helenius while still getting 3 2nds, a b+ prospect, and a b- prospect.

Buying out Krug hurts us more than it helps. We all know he’s gonna reject any trade proposal Army receives. STL will have to wait to trade him somewhere when his NTC turns into a 15 team no trade list in 2025-26. I agree that he needs to go sooner than later though.

Calgary won't be moving their 1st unless it's to move up in the draft.
