Sure if he was actually trying to rebuild he's trying to stay in the mushy middle which just will not work.

Pens do not have the choice. We have to wait another year before we can truly tank. Everyone and their mom has a NMC and we don’t have draft picks. Dubas didn’t do that. That’s the situation he walked into.

Attempting to make playoffs next year is the only decent option because we won’t reap rewards from those draft picks anyway. Same this year. Same last year.

This is hextalls mess. All dubas has done is trade our worst players for Erik Karlsson and double our prospect pool for 20 games of Jake guentzel (who we might sign in the offseason considering Carolina’s cap situation!)

And yet in that one trade he got us out from under our three worst contracts and brought in a guy who is now probably the second best player on the team. Karlsson is having one of the best offensive season by anyone on the pens in the Crosby era, it’s only disappointing by Karlsson standards.

You think the penguins would be in a better situation right now with a massive Jeff Petry contract instead of a Karlsson contract? I’ll pay a first to get out from all of that and get Erik freaking Karlsson any day.

The Karlsson trade is about respect to the core and to the fans. It’s about being beyond a shadow of a doubt that the tank is empty before rebuilding. When you have a top 5 talent of all time, you treat that with respect. 🫡
