As a flyers fan absolutely not. Not taking two cap dumps, crap picks, and ok prospects for G. Schenn got a better return than that dude. plekanec, two 1st, Ikonen, and Lehkonen/Juulsen and maybe I'd consider it. Not Shaw too that's just overkill.

Considering that Giroux has started to decline a bit in points department, and having a really bad +/- during this season (ok, I admit that PHI constantly had a bad season in that department, which might explain a thing or two, or should I say -15 things), I'd say that if you want to get even something good from him, it's time to trade him now. Sure, he is a good player, but I would not keep over $8M centre if there's a possibility that he makes only 50 points the next season, based on the downturn he seems to be in. Sure, there are also risks, but it might also turn out to be a great thing to do, for future. My trade suggestion is a bit harsh, and it can be changed in a way or two. But your trade is just too brutal for Habs. Plus Plekanec was not going to stay anyway.

Hahaha you mentioned +/- that's hilarious because it's mainly the most unrepeatable statistic we have to gauge performance on from year to year. The whole team couldn't score and I don't think that is a G thing - more of a system thing. You say my trade is too hard for the Habs? That's because they are getting the best player in the deal and it's not even close. Plekanec wouldn't stay with Philly either so idk how he factors in. He's a cap dump so they can afford G - nothing more. I'd rather keep G for at least two years maybe three until we see what we have in PAtrick. If we trade him now and Patrick needs more seasoning what would we do? GO with one year of Filp, two years of Lehtera, and Coots down the middle - that's horrendous outside of Coots. I think a declining G would have more value at the TDL in three/four years than that crap package you think they could get now.

I would counter with :

2018 1st round pick (MTL) ; 2020 1st round pick (MTL) ; Lehkonen ; Plekanec ; 2018 2nd round pick (better of the two) ; 2020 3rd round pick (conditional : if MTL makes it to the SCF with Giroux on their roster in any of the seasons ; 18-20 ; the Flyers get the pick. If it doesn't convey, Flyers receive 2021 5th and 7th round picks)
