Rentals don't work for the Leafs (Schenn, O'Reilly, Acciari, Gustafsson, Hutton, Rittich, Noesen, Foligno, Nash, etc) after paying assets for them and then watching them leave in July.
...oh...and stop trading assets for depth pieces that aren't much of an improvement
I only have gone for players with a bit of term and who think should help. Only Nashville is in a playoff positon and it is in the bottom Wildcard position.
This is a LAZY who I want in and who can go out.
Those that can 'go out' have played for the Leafs this year and I put them in the LTIR column. Maybe some can be moved for draft picks.
I could pull together fantasy trades but they would be a waste of time
- a tough LHD (like Benoit) that has a bit of an offensive upside (like Timmons). Could maybe play in the 2nd pairing 4th D (like Brodie) but that might be pushing it
- trading for him could make those 3 other defense men available to trade
