Could go for either or, Ottawa having to forfeit a first in the next few seasons kind of lets them do that in 2026 and with an extra year of term it could give flexibility in the off-season when it comes to signing Stamkos/addressing other needs. Also could add bottom six scoring in Kubalik for a cheap price too

Yeah would much rather Hanifin at the end of the day but took the chance to capitalize on Ottawa losing a first and Chychrun having an extra year at 4.6M for the off-season and get Kubalik for extra forward depth especially after that Tarasenko trade. Unless Hanifin comes in cheaper than expected in TB

I wouldnt trade finley for barabanov, he has been on a heater lately. about a ppg in his last 22 games, covid and injuries hurt his development but if he is able to maintain being a ppg at 21 in the AHL thats pretty good
