If Carrier and Barrie get 1sts, Toffoli isn't going for less than a 1st

That seems like a fair assessment.

That being said, I think Edmonton bringing in Tyson Barrie for a second tour of duty is a very appealing option.

I wouldn’t make the move at that price— this price could get beat, and I’m fine with that. More or less what I’m willing to pay, 2nd + prospect.

Also, a top 4 RHD at $2.5m cap hit will have a lot of value to a contending team. The Barrie deal, however, is more unrealistic imo.

We just saw a better dman get moved for less in Tanev.

A lot of factors affect the value of a player:
- position
- age
- cap hit
- contract status
- future contract demands
- team desperation (both sides)
- etc

I definitely think a 1st is the absolute ceiling for him, perhaps an unlikely ceiling. But NSH doesn’t need to trade him and a contender may overpay to secure one of the few top 4 RHD left on the market.

I ultimately don’t see them trading him and would probably prefer him to be re-signed, but if they could miraculously get two 1sts out of Barrie, Carrier, and 3rds then go for it. Probably unlikely though, but that’s why this site is fun— to just see what people think about wild ideas.
