Agreed. And it's going to be weird and completely different watching the Preds like this, completely changes the whole mobile defensemen dynamic they had last season.

I would not add a 1st rounder. Maybe a 3rd, at most... but losing Eck is a lot..
I think Duchene is a great trade for us, as it is more than likely he will re-sign with us.

If I were a NSH fan, I think it'd take me quite a while to be OK with losing Ekholm and his contract for Duchene after seeing how that NSH Top 4 worked this year (and playoffs).

Relatively, the team goes from Fisher to Duchene, and Ekholm to....Emelin. Not sure the additional scoring up front offsets the overall downgrade on the backend. *Noted that Fisher leaving isn't really something Poile can control, but fans have to be thinking about what they had.

Can't really get behind losing that quality of dman for Duchene. Also agree with commentary above that no picks would be necessary in that deal.

I'm not big on it. I wanted to see how the money would work out and what would be there. Also I didn't really think you would have to give a 1st, but a 1st would keep you from giving away a prospect or two..depends on how you value the prospects vs more than likely a 15-31th pick.
