Looks solid. Need to edit the defence lineup. I would have

Rielly - Vatanen
Gardiner - Zaitsev
Hainsey - Carrick
Marincin - Marchenko

I think there's a good chance that Rosen makes the team, which could mean no trade is coming

Rielly - Hainsey
Gardiner - Zaitsev
Rosen - Carrick
Marincin - Marchenko

Hi TBone: Although I'm hopeful for Rosen, a 25 year old who wasn't a star in Europe probably needs AHL time in to adjust to North American hockey. Same with Borgman although he's younger so he think might have a higher ceiling. I like the Leafs top 5, Reilly, Gardiner, Hainsey, Zaitsev, and Carrick, It's cross your fingers with Marincin and Marchenko and the rest. Dman injuries especially early in the season might devastating to the Leafs. Dermott looked impressive in his injured shortened first AHL season. Maybe he's the first call up.

not sure why the Ducks would do this. I mean it's not like the value is very far off, but they aren't going to move a top-4 defenseman for a rental. It's going to be someone under contract or team control for a few years at least. Rychel is nice, but not even close to ppg in the AHL so I doubt they have much interest in him, and Valiev doesn't do much for them when they have plenty of depth at left defense already. I would just change the pieces around. I think Vats trade with TOR is realistic, just not those specific players. It'd probably start with Kapanen as the main piece.

Straight up no from Anahiem. 1st of all, they already solved their defense conundrum by trading Theodore and Stoner to vegas. All their top defensemen are signed, with the exception of Manson, whom they have 4m of cap left over for. Also, next year Bieksa is coming off the books, so thats 4m off the cap as well. Besides that, no impact player or core player needs to be resigned in the next 2 years for Anahiem, so they have no reason to trade Vatanen, whom is on a extremely team friendly contract. Why would Anahiem take an ufa to be in JVR, an unproven prospect in Rychel and Valiev, whom doesn't really have a chance to make the nhl, and trade their top 4 d man for that package???

Well my logic was the Leafs can wait for the injured Vatanen. I'm just no sure about the Ducks. If they are going for right now, a LWer like JVR might be very useful for them to start the season. Yes I understand why the Ducks don't like the deal. Wonder if Larsson is ready for NHL duty after his injury last season? Maybe Vatanen isn't "greatly" needed.

Vats is arguably their 3rd best defenseman behind Lindholm and Manson. Some disagree but I think he's better than Fowler and most statistics back that up. The ducks will be fine to start the year with Montour, Manson, Fowler, Beiksa, Welinski, Larsson, and Holzer. They'll get Lindholm back in Nov and Vats back around the new year at the latest. Like I said it's not bad, but it doesn't make them want to move Vats when all they are getting back is JVR. They have Cogs, Rakell, and Ritchie playing the left wing anyway so if they are making a move it will be for cheaper higher ceiling talent like Kapanen+ for their top-4 RHD.
