Description
I probably don’t do this deal, because I value cap space in the offseason and this would basically lock our salaries in.

I'd say that's a hefty overpay for Hanifin.

1st+2nd+Merky should do it.

But calgary fans have convinced themselves Kuz isn't a cap dump

Nope. It is trying to figure out a value proposition tied to this, if conroy believes that Kuzmenko has positive value, then it is an easy walk away from this as a discussion.

From my perspective, you got the difference between Bruz and a second round pick and retention for Lindholm for taking Kuzmenko

I tend to think that. Add Grz or Forbort and get retention on Hanifin to make salaries work Just throwing out another way to create some potential value.

I still think a three way deal between Jersey / Boston / Calgary makes a lot of sense. My guess is some Calgary fans will view Vladar as a positive asset too.

If you are talking about Kuz, I think I’d value his cap dump at a 2nd rounder for most teams … but Calgary likely isn’t attracting top free agents so my guess is they probably view him as a net neutral player. Situations matter.

If you are talking about Vladar, I’d rather have Keith Kincaid when I look at salaries. I don’t know why they haven’t cut him, sent him to the Wranglers, and given the backup job to Wolf at this point. No one is claiming Vladar

I was talking about vladar. In terms of Kuzmenko I've seen people who think he's worth a 1st

Same people think Boston should be valuing Lohrei as a 2nd round pick and that Sweeney should ignore size/talent because he’s just a prospect. Use the same argument on Etienne Morin and it comes back with justification that is inconsistent.

I come here as much for the good discourse as the bad I guess.

There's no point in Calgary moving Kuzmenko. His value is low, Calgary has the cap space and time to try build it up to move him at the deadline next year. If he continues to perform at the level he did in Vancouver then you walk him to free agency, no harm no foul.
