Quoting: csick
I just don’t see a Tkachuk trade consisting of magic beans. Picks are magic beans especially when they come from teams that are playoff teams / contenders.
A Brady trade needs at least 1 young piece with top pair or top line potential
Seamus casey can be the centerpiece if you like replacing a 1st+3rd
Holtz can be the centerpiece replacing 2 1sts and us adding a 3rd
Mercer can be the centerpiece with us taking out 2 1sts
Meier can be the centerpiece replacing 1 first
Bratt can be the centerpiece replacing all the 1sts and more coming our way
Hamilton can be the centerpiece replacing a 1st
Nemec, Luke, Nico, Jack are not on the table
Even valuing Nemec at Damon Severson level (which I'd argue he's already at TODAY as a 20 year old) he will make 3 mill over these 3 years, provide 18-19 mill in value (15-16 mill in surplus). and then there's the 4 years of RFA you'd STILL have to pay us for. The value of effective NHLers on ELCs and with RFA control is simply too much.
If we sign nemec to a 4x6 deal walking him straight to UFA, that means he will make 27 mill total for 7 years on our team
Tkachuk will make 41 mill for 5.
