Description

Imo this would be getting what we need without going after the top guys.

Explanation:

- Carrier is worth about a 1st, if they take on Ceci. Then I think Bourgault for Novak and a 4th is a good swap considering Novak is a UFA and Bourgy was a 1st round pick.

- Ottawa fans want a 1st for Tarasenko, I could see it happening. I tossed in Lavoie because he doesn't fit in the lineup rn or the near future. And then the two prospects are unsigned guys I think the Oil could sign to get more depth in the pipeline without being massive asks from Ottawa.

My thinking is Tarasenko imo is worth Lavoie, Brown, and a 2nd. So to bridge the difference of OTT fans wanting a first, they toss in two unsigned prospects which would provide Edmonton more depth.

That's not how it works LOL

-Carrier isn't worth a 1st as a rental. He should fetch a 2nd with retention. There's a market for RD but he's not at the top of teams wish lists.
-Ceci isn't a cap dump. The Oilers ideally would like to upgrade on him but they shouldn't need to pay to move him. He also has another year after this season.
-Novak is young cheap and has played well in multiple situations. If NSH isn't trying to sign him long term they better be trading to someone who wants him long term. Get the most out of trading him.
-Bourgault has taken a step backward in his development and his value is declining. Wouldn't be worth a 22nd overall, more like a late 2nd or a 3rd atm.
