Description

If you're going give up the first for a 2C, I'd rather it be a longterm fit. Plus, with a name like Frost, he was born to be an Avalanche. MAF has won hardware, so he'd be a good presence. I would give Kovalenko a shot at 4C in the playoffs with Landeskog (can take draws if that doesn't translate) on his wing. Kamenev was a good defensive depth forward in his last stint, can win draws and PK. He has also developed some goalscoring touch in the KHL. He wouldn't cost an asset, so he's worth a look. Ritchie has been good enough to earn an ELC (but I plan on that sliding). Mbereko gets an ELC for this season because that's what it will take to bring him in. Local guy, great numbers, goalie prospect for the future.

The question remains: IS Frost a 2C? It hasn't been made clear he's available so I think it would take a better package to get him; he's young, inexpensive and fits with the Flyers rebuild timeline so they have no real reason to trade him unless they're getting something they really want back, such as Byram, which isn't worth it, especially in-season.

I mean I'd do it... and I know this is silly but I was really hoping tufte would be apart of the team this year and next..

Not a fan of kirivanta, the 6"6 tufte should come up to replace him in my opinion

I am also not sure Frost is a 2C on a good team. He's never surpassed 50 points (on pace for 42 this season). I do think he fits the Flyers timeline, but not Torts' style. I think he'd be a great fit in Colorado, and am banking on his potential. Though I am not willing to overpay for it. I'd like to keep Tufte, but he is a guy Torts would like. Frost hasn't done near enough to land Byram.

I meant tufte to the avs and kirivanta to the eagles. Swap in behrens, I have a feeling he's not going to sign with the logjam the avs have at LD and go free agent

The Avs have lost interest in Tufte; he's a non-entity for them at this point. Frost is intriguing but I agree overpaying for him is not the right move which means the Avs probably wouldn't get him, at least not right now. If the Flyers want Byram bad (they reportedly asked for him straight across for Gauthier), maybe a deal could be swung in the offseason that also includes something of else of high value coming to the Avs but Byram's value is more along the lines of Necas and I doubt the Canes do that although it wouldn't hurt to ask this offseason.

Avs own Behrens rights for one more year but he should definitely be the first prospect to go in a trade.

I think you're probably missing a third in the Flyers trade for moving RyJo. Then the value is probably pretty fair. MAF isn't available, doesn't want to move and isn't likely to be moved. He also isn't what the Avs need and likely costs more than that (if made available) which nobody should be willing to pay. Kamenev almost certainly never returns to the NHL with the Avs.

Honestly I think it's because he isn't waivers exempt, like how meyers is no longer waivers exempt. They lose him for free if they have to send him back down
