BUF
  1. Pettersson, Elias
Détails additionnels:
Obviously if Pettersson doesn't want to stay in Vancouver, than why in hell would he want to go to and sign long term in Buffalo, he most likely wouldn't but, they do have a lot to offer
VAN
  1. Johnson, Ryan
  2. Kulich, Jiri
  3. Luukkonen, Ukko-Pekka
  4. Mittelstadt, Casey
  5. Rosén, Isak
  6. Choix de 2e ronde en 2025 (BUF)
Détails additionnels:
I'd say the 5 players combined are at or close to the value of 4 1st round picks and the 2nd has the condition of becoming a 1st if Buffalo makes the playoffs.

If Buffalo can't make the playoffs with Pettersson than they are cursed, plain and simple.

Not a chance anyone gives that up for Pettersson to start. Buffalo doesn't have any reason to target him unless Thompson and Mittelstadt are going back. That's also 4 first rounders all of which have gained value since they were drafted, and one of the best goalies in the league this year, this is significantly over the value of 4 first rounders

Mittelstadt is in the trade so maybe you missed that, are you saying Pettersson isn't worth it because a 16years playoff drought would say different IMO

Think having his best friend here could help, him and Dahlin are pretty close. Sabres really aren't that far off. Some tweaks here and there to the Roster and Coaching Staff and they could be a very Dangerous Team with the Talent they have.

I mean, it hasn't been 16 years.

If you are gonna take shots, don't be wrong.

Yeah everyone knows they're close but, would you give up this package to get Pettersson, do you think it should be more or less?

Didn't know about the friendship between Dahlin and Pettersson but, that could be something that gives them an edge

My bad 16years without a playoff series win and 12year drought, I had googled it and misread

I would be shocked if you got this much in a Deal. The Team acquiring already knows he doesn't want to be in Vancouver Longterm and there gonna have to give him a huge Extension. That right there cuts a **** ton of Teams already out because of Cap Restraints, plus half those Teams probably don't have the Assets needed to entice Vancouver. I doubt they move him, but if he comes out and says he isn't staying it really hurts Vancouver's return in a trade.

And. Thompson and Mittelstadt. And yes he's not worth depleting every other position including goalie which has been a problem for the entire 12 years

Probably similar to the Eichel deal. Maybe 2 NHLers a prospect and a 1st instead. Especially with no contract in place, and with what a pain in the a$$ that contract is going to be, probably just the same as Eichel

Buff has a big advantage:

It’s an American market with lower tax burdens and the other benefits of being in the states.
I see your premise but the Sabres trading for EP rests on that fact, their stage in their build and war chest of prospects, and most importantly any type of relationship he has with Dahlin from the Swedish national team.

I mean Pettersson has been more productive than Eichel throughout his career (Eichel at 0.95PPG and EP at 1.03 through 6years) and Eichel had his own issue with the neck surgery he wanted to get that most teams were scared of at the time (it seems to be ok now both Eichel and Tyler Johnson have done it and neither seem to have any big issues) which I would argue was a bigger deterrent than a new contract.
Let's say it's near the same that's still Mittelstadt in place of Tuch, Kulich or Rosen in place of Krebs, a 1st and a 2nd. Take off the 2nd round pick and Ryan Johnson and that was about the same offer Mittelstadt = Tuch, Kulich = Krebs, Rosen = 1st round pick and UPL = a 2nd (I don't value goalies super high so people will disagree with me)

You have the younger Levi still so losing UPL isn't a huge loss, I would've done it last year but Buff decided to role with the young guys but, Sabres should sign a solid vet (Talbot, Quick or Raanta, his poor play this year not overshadowing a solid career) and have Levi backup and be mentored

Based off the income tax estimate CF has Buffalo vs Vancouver on an 11mil deal would only have a 200k benefit

Patrick will hang up and walk away.
Petey is staying and he will sign an extension in Vancouver.
This EP trade rumour is 🤬

I mean this is the 2nd time this year Pettersson is rumoured to want to leave, I'm not saying he will leave just wondering what the price will be if he does

He’ll get more than Eichel because he’s a better player and doesn’t need major neck surgery

Canucks also have no need for UPL so his inclusion doesn’t make sense. He’s definitely more valuable to Buffalo/other teams than he would be Vancouver. Would Thompson be more likely to be moved than Cozens in a scenario where Buffalo targets Pettersson?

Restarting with young goalies every 3 years after the last one hits his prime is how you end up with a 12 year playoff drought. UPL is a hard stop

Yeah idk why he put UPL in there. The contract situation is as bad. I think Thompson would be moved over Cozens
