Kings would do everything in their power to match that. They've invested a lot into him, and he is finally starting to put everything together.

Why are the canes trading a 3rd rounder for a 3rd 4th or 5th goalie depending on how you sort those three.

Canes aren’t the goalie hungry team for this deal.

Even worst offer sheet than the Habs and Aho…similar term and AAV but cap is much higher now. Kings match pretty easily and might even thank the Preds for it.

Honestly love the idea of an offer sheet. It'll piss an opposing GM off, but if we reasonably want a top line center it's what we'd have to do.

That said I think LA would match that offer. They'd have about 22 million in cap space next year, and they can't lose someone like Byfield.

For some reason I though LA was much more cap strapped next seasons that's why I said "everything in their power". Having learned otherwise, yeah I would say that is an easy match for them.

I mean keep in mind that would only give them 13 guys on the roster signed. They'd have to do a quite a bit of work to fill the rest of the roster and not gut it. They probably want him on a bridge deal that ends when Kopitar's extension ends. 8 mil is not a comfortable price point for them and one I'm sure they would hate to meet but would have to.

I think it would take Nashville offering closer to 9 or 10 mil to make them not match
