Good luck with that. He's not worth a 1st, and there aren't many to go around anyway.

It's been reported he's getting one. An elite defensive forward with another year on his deal making peanuts. Goodrow was the same thing and got a 1st. Dowd is better than him.

Goodrow+ a 3rd, which everyone always seems to forget, got a 1st. It's been reported by one source that Dowd retained may get a 1st, but no guarantee. Not many contenders are going to use a 1st on a 3rd or 4th line C, both because there aren't that many available and there are better targets out there. A 2nd and a 4th, or maybe 2nd+3rd/decent prospect is comparable to the Goodros deal.

I can't see Tampa adding this much, especially considering they're in a wild card spot and the teams behind them have games in hand. I have to think they consider moving Stamkos at the deadline. As unrealistic as it is, Brisebois has proven that he's a wild card and will entertain anything. They could realize use a 1st in one of the next two drafts to either draft a solid prospect, or trade when they're in a better playoff situation.

I personally have a hard time doubting a team as elite as Tampa typically is, but they seem really off this year, and I don't know how they make a deep run with this current roster. A lot can happen/change, so you never know.

Stamkos is going nowhere and as long as they are in a playoff spot or in the mix, they'll be buying. JBB won't throw away a year in their window as long as he feels they are still capable of making a run. One bad game against a bad team doesn't change that thinking imo. They pronabaly won't make this many moves, but they easily could, and in the case of probabaly 3 out of the 4 players, would likely have them beyond this season, which is key in these trades and giving up even more picks/prospects.

Nah he's getting a 1st. So wow Caps give up a 3rd as well to get the 1st, 3rd means nothing. Point is he's getting a 1st.

But it's not just one bad game. Did you hear Cooper's comments tonight? It's win 1 lose 1, win 2 lose 2. Their goal differential is +2, which is bad for any playoff team. Vasy has been inconsistent all year, Sergy is irreplaceable. Hanifin is reportedly interested in signing in Tampa, but with what cap space and trade assets can they bring him in? They really don't have the assets to make deadline adds in general. What are they going to do, have no draft picks? I can see this being a retool year where they cash in on trade value and restock the roster in free agency. They can easily contend again next season.

They've had a couple bad games, but overall, they've been good since mid-December. Vasy, these last two games not withstanding, has been excellent the last dozen or so, and given the injury/surgery and rehab, him struggling for a while initially wasn't surprising. Hanifin may or may not sign in Tampa, but that's more likely a summer move anyway, as Tampa shouldn't be overpaying in assets for him now. A few other moves would have to be made, but if Stamkos and Hanifin want to take a little less and play for Tampa moving ahead, the space can be there. It's a rougher season since some players like Sheary and ABB have sucked, a new defensive system was a mistake and they still haven't put it all together, but the team has drastically improved from where they were 2.5 months ago. They won't be able to coast the last two months like most of the last several seasons, but with a few solid depth adds to help tbe middle/bottom 6 and the blueline, the nucleus of the team can potentially get the support it needs. JBB will have to view the team as having no chance to take a position of selling or doing nothing.

In your opinion, cool. He's getting a. 2nd+, that's the point, see I can do that as well.

That's my exact point, this team is teetering close to "Having no chance". You have to beat a team like Ottawa on home ice. I just don't think they have the horses this year to make the deep run they're accustomed to making. One more injury to a key player and this season is pretty much over. They're that thin.

They have prospects and future picks still available. They aren't moving any roster players for a haul, so the best plan should be to use some futures to improve depth(and hopefully get it right this time). They could add pure rentals but I'd rather them get a couple of players with term or if ufa/rfa, that they'd likely re-sign. The picks from these next few seasons won't be of any help to this core in winning any more Cups if anyone is being realistic, so if they can be used to acquire better depth, so be it. Brisebois has shown no problem moving picks, and to a lesser degree, prospects, for key additions. While they shouldn't gut all of their best current prospects, if one or two have to go to improve the team now and for the duration of this group's window, so be it.

Many teams suffer key injuries and can still make runs. Addressing depth is the exact reason they should be buying. Brisebois knows they need some so he's likely to go out and get some help. It was one bad game against Ottawa, Tampa has had them before and will again, just like every team in the league. As long as it's not the start of a slump, they'll be fine. There is no dominant team in the East this year, as all of the so called top tier teams have flaws. Tampa's focus should be on improving depth at a couple of positions and finishing strong. As long as they make it in the playoffs, they have the same record as everyone else, and with their playoff experience from their core, they'll have a chance.
