Doubt it, I don't think EDM has the assets Dubas will want if they trade Jake.

EDM has their 2024 1st, Bourgault, and Savoie. They got everything Pittsburgh wants and needs at this point.

you just named nothing they need or want beside the 1st.

If they trade Jake they'll want a young current NHL player, neither Bourgault or Savoie are regulars in the league yet.

I don't necessarily agree. They have the worst prospect pool in the league. Even if they wanted NHL ready pieces, they could flip them. Bourgault will be pushing for a spot next season for sure. I don't think a contending team wants to trade young, current NHLers for deadline adds. Especially ones that have the potential to be a rental.

I don't think Calgary needs help in a Tanev trade, they'll probably just take back cap in any deal to not need the double retention

Then you don't get to add someone like Jake of caliber.

The prospect argument against the pens is a waste of time, everyone knows it's bad, a rebuild is also going to take a very long time. They're going to retool every off-season until the core is gone. That is why they'll want a young current NHL player for Jake.

You also need to give to get. Sure send some prospects for middle six rentals or depth defenseman.

Jakes a complete player and one of the better scorers in the league and elevates his game in the post season. EDM is desperate to get to the cup, they'll need to pay for someone like Jake.

Retention of the amount listed for the EDM trade usually only returns a 4th or 5th.

I don’t think PIT get current young nhlers for a Guentzel rental. A step up from the giroux deal when it happened is my guess. Tippett wasn’t close to the asset he is now so I wouldn’t expect some impact player right off the bat personally

I would say the oilers have a worse prospect pool than the pens. Bourgault and Savoie have both struggled to transition into the AHL. Right now the only prospects of note for them are Holloway, Akey, and Copponi. I would take Yager, Pickering, Plante and Ilyin over that if I am being honest.

yeah the pens pool isn't good by any means but they don't have the worst lol. EDM's is bad, and they have nothing to show for it yet.

As a pens fan I don't care that our farm system is gutted. I had nearly 2 decades of success and the cups, as a fan I'm thrilled with that.

just what the penguins need to improve their "worst prospect pool" a 4th round AHL level player who at 22 hasn't done crap at the AHL level to impress anyone.
And a former 1st round pick that hasn't cracked the NHL yet and has fallen behind the rest of his class.

        Please sit down.
They have nothing the penguins want. They simply don't have the pieces.
