This deal would be predicated on Hanifin signing his tax friendly, team friendly extension with Tampa. Looks like a damn good D corps. Flames set themselves up with slightly younger guys under team control and get two picks. Perbix is essentially the new Tanev for Calgary. This is if Hanifin says he will not re-sign in Calgary.

Tbl:

Hedman - Cernak
Hanifin - Andersson
Lilleberg/De Haan/Raddysh/Fleury

Cgy: what they would look like healthy before Tanev trade, after Tanev trade is anyone's guess depending on return. Sergachev is out for a good while.

Sergachev - Tanev
Weegar - Perbix
Kylington - Pachal

Let's get a higher 1st round pick for Calgary!

Interesting proposal it'd have to come with major conditions on Sergachev's recovery from surgery and performance after returning. Even then I'd only consider it if I didn't think I'd be able to extend Andersson when his contract runs out in 2026.

Looking at next year's Lightning team here, it looks like they'll have around $11m in cap space to use to re-sign Stamkos and anyone else beyond him, so Stammer would have to take a pretty nice discount to fit Hanifin in, to be honest, unless other moves are made like trading Jeannot for yet another younger asset who is cheaper for now lol. It could work but it could bite them too without some slick work. Hopefully the cap keeps going up at the same rate for a few years to come, that would help for sure. There are still a few depth spots to be filled as well for next season, which will take a few million to fill with league min guys.

P.s. Just thinking about it now, Andersson's deal is up is about the time Hedman will be needing to take a discounted contract to end his career too. At 35, Hedman won't be making 9 million a year. So that makes sense, re-sign Andersson to an appropriate deal at that time.

If the Flames like Kylington enough in his run here, they can sign him to a one year extension for $1m, maybe $1.5, let him prove himself over a whole season to see what kind of contract he deserves after.

Next year:

Kylington - Weegar
Sergachev - Perbix
TBD - Pachal
