I like it. I genuinely think Chevy is done though. Maybe just some depth pieces, but nothing substantial. Monaghan was the big get imo. (I hope I’m wrong)

Tanev would be an okay add. Hopefully Chevy doesn't consider moving that 2nd for him though. As bottom pairing depth, he won't make enough difference to justify that cost.

Fair enough, I like Tanev but wouldn't mind a cheaper alternative...I also like Savard from MTL,2 years left on his deal as well but I don't know what he would cost.

i'd put money down that Edmundson will go for at least a 3rd. GM's love adding big, slow defenseman at the deadline

I'd prefer Tanev to Savard, I don't like the idea of getting stuck with Savard's contract next year. Adding Savard to Schmidt that $9.5 mil on bottom pairing defenseman. Yikes!

Lol, I figure Schmidt will be gone next year but I get your point!

Even if the Jets buy Schmidt out that's $2.7 plus Savard's $3.5, in effect we'd be paying $6.2 for Savard. Unless the Jets can move Schmidt without paying anything, I can't see it working.

It's too much roster/salary shifting to make a lateral move from Schmidt to Savard.

I like the idea of Tanev and Edmundson as a RHD upgrade and a depth addition, respectively, as relying on Stanley/Heinola/Capobianco as playoff replacements due to an injury on the main roster seems risky.

If the Jets make more trades before roster limits are lifted, it looks like they would have to move out a roster player for each roster player they bring in. None of the healthy scratches - Gustafsson, Kupari, Stanley - would clear waivers and demoting Perfetti (waivers exempt) or Schmidt (likely clear due to salary and term) wouldn't be a good message to the team. If trades settle T+1 for roster purposes then no problem, if it is T+0 then its a headache.

This is my thoughts as well. I figure these moves are made on deadline day and I'll be honest, I had Perfetti being "sent down" (paper transaction) and Schmidt buried as he would not be claimed grimace
