Need more right shots and to find a way to get rid of Sheary. No way he should be in the top six let alone on the team next year.

I was just gonna say they should make an award for having 8/8 left shot wingers.

But why though? There are players in Syracuse who have worked much harder than he has to try and earn a roster spot at the NHL level, namely Groshev, Goncalves, Thompson. Removing him frees up not only 1-2M in cap to sign better free agents but potentially opens the door for those younger players to try and succeed as well, which should be the priority for a team without a ton of cap to begin with. I would rather take a pointless Merela or Goncalves at a cheap cap hit as long as they're developing at the NHL level than a regression bound and stagnated Sheary at 2 million dollars who hasn't recorded a point in almost a month.

Sheary has already won his, and hasn't worked out in his assigned role here. Fill his spot with Goncalves or Groshev and you'd be developing a solid young player and saving on cap as well.

so how much would you trade away to get rid of him, we need higher end players to score in the top 6

Can bundle Sheary with a 4th to a contender for future considerations or at best a 6th-7th, no one would pay us to take him. Could possibly be a better return with some retained salary, but I don't think many teams would be interested in a vet with 9 points in ~30 games making 2M. Only places I could consider adding to their bottom six are Dallas, maybe Boston or Vegas if the room opens up there. All comes down to what isn't on his NTC though.

If you're paying 4.5 for Mantha, add a right shot forward in Sprong instead. Consistent scorer and viable PP2 option, should be cheaper than Mantha as well, and a decent middle 6 option. In place of Sheary, call up Max Groshev to play top 9 and start developing instead.

yeah I wouldn't pay a 5th or a 6th and retain salary on a player that we could put in a situation where he could succeed, should keep him and make use of a player we signed for 3 years. Sheary also played well this year with Stamkos and Paul (where he scored a goal) before he got injured.
