Avs do not NEED Gauthier - they DO need a backup G with Francouz out until next season - a 1 yr deal vet backup plus a pick for an "excess" D-man sounds about right to me!

Byram is worth way more than Samsonov

That's an abysmal offer for Byram. it likely costs the 3rd to dump Samsonov (who the Avs can't afford going forward so he's a rental back up who costs too much), so you get Byram for free in essence. Try adding your next two firsts (oh that's right, you don't have them), and the Avs still decline.
